We are just about to leave KL on the night train to Langkawi an island off the north west coast of Malaysia. This will be our final 'holiday' destination before heading on to New Zealand.
So....since last time. A fantastic time was had by all in the desert of Dubai. Nearly lost our stomach contents whilst driving the sand dunes (not good for those of us who suffer from travel sickness!!!) visited a camel farm - fenced compound with 3 camels!, rode the dunes on sand boards (well the boys did) and here is a photo of the boys off on a camel ride.
After our farewells to our excellent hosts in Dubai we continued our journey to Singapore. Our second visit here so we had a look around, visited the zoo and spent a lot of time by the pool.
Next stop Kuching in Sarawak which is a very chilled out city. Again spent a lot of time by the pool but also seeing the sites and wandering along by the river.
From Kuching we headed to a beach resort in Sarawak where we enjoyed several days of sunshine and relaxation. The boys had a great time with the local guys there who taught them how to use a blow pipe, gave them tatoos, sent them body boarding and even had them on stage during a ccultural show!
The last photo is of us all in the bar having a quiet beer before dinner. We all enjoyed Sarawak and will go back again some day!
Next stop from there was KL which I am going to have to write about next time as we now have to go for the train or we will miss it!!!
So...I promise to update on KL and Langkawi soon. No doubt we will have plenty of time in Langkawi!!!
Thanks for all your comments. Good to know you are reading. Keep them coming.

'bout time you made us all jealous. There you are having a good time whilst we are working sleeping with the occassional drinking. Nothing to report from the back lane 'cept weather has been sunny and proper autumnal. Enjoy the rest of your "holiday".

Looks like you are having a fab time -as expected. Can't believe you'll be here in NZ next week - it's just starting to warm up nicely for you! Glad you are enjoying the trip - the back lane must be enveloped in silence. Hey, guess what - Georgia's just entered her first triathlon!!??!! Can you believe it? A Chubby Ball in a triathlon?????Mind she's not really a chubby Ball anymore - will have to adopt a new alias..any ideas? Take care and see you soon!
You are right Bev Ball it is all quiet on the back lane. Just balls of tumbleweed rolling by and occasionally the sound of a golf ball being battered. Half term week here so been busy with all the usual stuff. Ed now done a half term at St Bedes and is loving it. Harry is in Year 2. Feniscowles School was 100 years old last week and so all the kids were in Edwardian costume. They looked fab. All a long way from Singapore and KL and NZ but still in the global village - just. Look forward to seeing the back lane reunited in NZ.

Hi Folks, lovely photos and lots of smiles (oh yes just realised Neil isn't in any of them) just joking, it took Lois a while to settle down, "gutted" was the word, when she came back from school to see you had gone forever! Anyway she got a hamster from Sue's Zoo, over the bridge, and I got a day off work from the asthma attack that ensued! we all miss you but are glad to see that you are having so much fun, Love the Westall-Simpsons
