Life goes on.......

OK. You asked for it.......what have we done with the boys? The last couple of blogs have had no mention of them but I can assure you they have been VERY busy! My life revolves around their social life and activities. No wonder I have no time to find a job!!!

So I dedicate this blog to the new lives of the Wordie boys......
First up Senior Wordie,

very proud the first time 'we' set up the tent. It has been used a couple of times since..once by the boys only at Waihi in the pouring rain! and the second time by all of us at Waihi again but this time in glorious sunshine! Need I say more?!
Next comes Tom 'riding The Luge'. This is one of our favorite pastimes.....and a must for any visitors. You have a choice of scenic, intermediate or advanced routes down the mountainside in a kind of sledge on wheels! Great fun and as you can see Tom is beating me down already!!!

And then of course the great Kiwi past time......fishing. Neil hates it! but the boys love it especially once we managed to catch a couple of tiddlers! Well, I managed to catch a rather large starfish! and the boys caught tiddlers! Fortunately we have some friends who have a boat and love to fish so we get all the benefits without Neil having to endure it. I did spend Monday morning learning to fillet and skin some snapper but it was worth all the effort for the delicious fresh fish.

Now we'll concentrate on the boys activities! At the moment they both play Flippaball (junior water polo) for the school, swim every day at the school pool and do the 'Nippers' at the surf lifesaving club. Max also does extra surf lifesaving training on a Monday evening and plays for a local cricket team! They have both signed up for the local football team but that doesn't start until May.

Both boys had school swim sports last week and managed to gain 2nd or 3rd in all their races. A very impressive performance I have to say as the competition was pretty serious! You know what these Kiwis are like with their sport!!!

Here you have Max and Tom in action. Max at the top, then Tom the next three photos.

Now for surf lifesaving. Both boys were in a competition at Waihi (about 1 hour up the coast from here.) They both really enjoyed it and although they didn't win any medals (this time!) Papamoa as a team won the competition overall.

Tom is competing in a race called 'beach flags' where you have to race a short distance from lying down on the beach and grab a 'beach flag' (piece of hose pipe!!!) before the other competitiors. Tom is generally pretty fast at this but didn't make it to the final.

Max is racing to the finish after a sea swim. Looks good but not quite fast enough.....yet!

Finally we have Tom on his body board and then the senior Wordies relaxing in the sunshine. Watching all this activity doesn't half tire me out!!!!

I hope you are now convinced that the boys are well and very active! Keep on reading for more action from Downunder!
